Sac Area Pro Recap: Ramon Martin Del Campo makes pro debut

After a weird situation in which he signed an MLS contract that was voided after no teams selected him in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, UC Davis alum Ramon Martin Del Campo has finally made his pro debut.

The defender signed with Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica shortly after his incident in MLS, but didn't make a league appearance for the Central American giants in just over a year.

Looking to give the 23-year-old former U.S. youth international playing time, Saprissa loaned Martin Del Campo to NASL expansion side Puerto Rico FC just before the club's inaugural season kicked off.

Martin Del Campo has since started and played 90 minutes at right back in the club's first two games: a 1-1 draw vs. Indy Eleven, and a 2-1 loss this past weekend at the Jacksonville Armada.

The Mexico-born defender now joins Quincy Amarikwa in the ranks of active professional players who played under Dwayne Shaffer at UC Davis.
